Concert for the Day of the State (coronation of King Mindaugas of Lithuania)
The Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, State Choir “Vilnius”, soloist Lina Dambrauskaitė, actors Vytautas Rumšas and Ignas Ciplijauskas, trumpet player Dovas Lietuvninkas and conductor Artūras Dambrauskas invite you to commemorate the State Day (the coronation of King Mindaugas of Lithuania) with classical music.
After graduating from the prestigious Royal Academy in London, L. Dambrauskaitė was selected to study at the Zurich Opera House and despite the pandemic she has successfully performed many roles on the theater stage. Listeners will hear the singer’s works by G. F. Händel and W. A. Mozart, who take a special place in her repertoire.
The concert will be crowned by the work “Didysis Kunigas” by composers Giedrius Svilainis and Rytas Svilainis. The libretto written by Herkus Kunčius. It depicts the historical period when Lithuania renounced paganism and accepted baptism, and tells the complicated story of King Mindaugas and his father Dangerutis. In the work, the intonations of folk music intertwine with the church music performed by the orchestra and choir. This work perfectly gives meaning to the honorable memory of the ancestors of our nation and invites the listeners to symbolically commemorate the Day of the State (coronation of King Mindaugas of Lithuania).
