Kristupas Festival: Karl Jenkins – Symphonic Adiemus
Saturday, August 28, 7 pm
Vilnius Picture Gallery courtyard (4 Didžioji St, Vilnius)
Performers:
State Choir VILNIUS (Artistic Director and Conductor ARTŪRAS DAMBRAUSKAS)
LITHUANIAN STATE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (Artistic Director and Conductor GINTARAS RINKEVIČIUS)
Karl Jenkins took the music for an ad created for Delta Airlines and it grew into Adiemus. A work that took the world by storm with its ethnic variety and the composer’s own devised language. Even though it might sometimes sound Latin, Jenkins formed the “words” according to the melodic line. An interesting fact – the title of the piece is actually very close to the Latin adeamus, which means “let us approach” or to come together – something the world needs so much these days.
Receiving 17 gold and 2 platinum record awards, Adiemus will be heard for the first time in Lithuania on an even grander scale. A new version orchestrated by the composer himself will be performed at the Christopher Summer Festival – Symphonic Adiemus.
Jenkins always manages to move audiences’ hearts – by coming to this concert, you’ll understand why.
